The National Association of People With AIDS will hold its first National HIV Testing Day Skills-Building Conference from April 7 to 9 in Silver Spring, Md. The hands-on conference, with the theme "Creating Effective Campaigns to Promote Voluntary HIV Counseling and Testing," will include health department administrators and staff; community-based organization managers, staff, and volunteers; and HIV-positive people. The four goals of the conference are: building local capacity for creating effective social awareness and community mobilization campaigns around volunteer HIV counseling and testing services; increasing ability to promote or provide accessible and appropriate counseling and testing services; building collaborations to create successful local and regional National HIV Testing Day events, held on June 27 each year; and networking with others who have experience with testing-day events or mobilization campaigns. For more information or to register for the conference, call (240) 247-0880 or go online to www.napwa.org.
