Toronto Blue Jays "marry" two male players in mock wedding.

Same-sex marriage was all a big joke for members of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team who exacted revenge on two male players by throwing them a mock wedding party.

Aaron Hill and Russ Adams, the team's second baseman and shortstop, were "married" on Wednesday thanks to the efforts of pitchers Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett. Their wedding service, attended by fellow players, was retaliation for a stunt Hill and Adams pulled a few weeks back when they printed up T-shirts featuring the two pitchers--who had recently become training buddies--with a reference to "Brokeback Mound."

Adams and Hill found themselves treated to a plane circling the field Wednesday morning with a banner reading, "Aaron, will you marry me? I love you." All this was followed by a surprise blowout wedding in the clubhouse that pulled out all the stops. "They didn't miss anything," Adams told the TorontoStar. "They had a DJ, a freakin' videographer--or whatever you call it--a fondue pot, gifts--well, gag gifts."

The ceremony was capped during the third inning of Wednesday's Blue Jays-Phillies game when another plane circled the field announcing, "Congratulations, Aaron and Russ."

Same-sex marriage became legal throughout Canada last year. (The Advocate)
