In July dozens of
families from across the country are expected to join
what's being called the "Thousand-Watt March" across
Colorado to protest against an antigay group
headquartered there. The march is being organized by
Christian gay rights organization Soulforce, the group
behind this year's successful Equality Ride.
The Thousand-Watt March will stretch 65 miles,
from Colorado's state capitol building in Denver to
the Colorado Springs headquarters of antigay group
Focus on the Family. The march will be a "relay," with
each group of families walking four miles.
In a statement, Soulforce said the march will
shed "the powerful light of truth on the antigay
dishonesty of Focus on the Family."
The march is set to begin July 17 and will end
five days later with a protest and concert right
outside Focus on the Family's headquarters. (Sirius
