With as many as
12,000 athletes expected to participate, registration for
this July's Gay Games in Chicago has been extended until
this Wednesday, June 21, for many sports.
Although the official registration period ended last
Thursday, organizers decided to extend the
deadline to allow more people to participate while also
allowing some teams to complete their rosters.
The only sports that are officially closed to
new participants are band, badminton, racquetball,
figure skating, and rugby. Although tennis, golf, and
swimming are also closed, their wait lists remain open until
Wednesday. And ice hockey, water polo, and soccer/football
are closed to new teams, but already registered teams
can add new members through Wednesday.
All other sports remain open for registration.
