Candlelight march
will mark GMHC’s 25th anniversary on August 10

New York City's Gay Men's Health Crisis, the nation's first AIDS organization, will celebrate its 25th anniversary on August 10 with a short program and candlelight march. GMHC was founded when a group of gay men gathered in New York on August 11, 1981, to discuss the emergence of Kaposi's sarcoma, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, and other immune system problems that were beginning to kill gay men. A short program will be held at GMHC's first headquarters at The Colonial House, 318 W. 22nd St., at 7 p.m., followed by a candlelight march to GMHC's current location at 119 W. 24th St. For more information, call (212) 367-1016.
