World AIDS Day
exhibitions on view at UCLA, December 1–March 11

UCLA will host two exhibitions this year in order to commemorate World AIDS Day on December 1. "Dress Up Against AIDS: Condom Couture by Adriana Bertini" will feature garments constructed of male and female condoms discarded for failing industry standard tests. The exhibition runs from December 1 until March 11 at the UCLA Fowler Museum.

"The Keiskamma Altarpiece: Transcending AIDS in South Africa" will be on view in the Glorya Kaufman Hall (adjacent to the Fowler Museum) on December 1 and then again from January 10 until March 11. One hundred thirty women from South Africa's Eastern Cape province constructed the multimedia work, which takes its inspiration from a 16th-century German altarpiece designed to celebrate the region's overcoming a disastrous plague.

Admission to both exhibitions is free to the public. For complete information go to fowler.ucla.edu or call (310) 825-4361.
