Chicago gay group
leader to step down

The executive director of Chicago's first LGBT community center, Center on Halsted, has announced her plans to leave her position following the center's grand opening this June. Robbin Burr and the center's board of directors announced in a press release that the group has agreed on the timing of her departure, which follows the group's effort to triple its donor base and solidify relationships with donors, community leaders, and local organizations.

"I'm extraordinarily pleased that we've had tremendous success with our fund-raising campaign, construction is on schedule, and our programs are expanding," Burr said in a statement. "I've met the goals and objectives I set out to accomplish for this phase of COH's growth, and I'm looking forward to unfolding the next chapter in my career."

Burr said she plans to stay involved with the group as a volunteer and donor. She will also lead the planning for the center's social and fund-raising gala, WOW. (The Advocate)
