Now that he has some extra time on his hands, former Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight told Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday’s show,  the next journey he’d like to take is into parenthood.

“I want a baby,” he told the talk-show host. "I don't know if it's going to end up working out, but that would be something I would like."

The 36-year-old actor has returned to his roots and is currently performing onstage at Los Angeles’s Mark Taper Forum in the musical Parade. He said watching Katherine Heigl and her husband, Josh Kelley, adopt a baby has inspired him to want to become a father.

“I've wanted [kids] for a while, so it reinforces it. She's such a beautiful baby. I'm so happy for her and Josh."
