Three London teenagers will appear before the City of Westminster magistrates' court today to be charged with manslaughter in the beating death of a gay man, Ian Baynham.
On September 25, Joel Alexander, 19, and two unidentified female teenagers shouted homophobic abuse at passersby in London’s Trafalgar Square. Baynham, who was out celebrating a new job with a friend, approached the teens to confront them about their behavior and was attacked by them. Alexander is said to have punched him to the ground and the three kicked him repeatedly.
Baynham, 62, suffered severe brain damage in the beating and died on October 14 when doctors switched off his life-support machine.
