According to an update on her Twitter page, New York's junior senator Kirsten Gillibrand is meeting with Department of Defense officials today to discuss overturning "don't ask, don't tell."
Since assuming office in January, Gillibrand has championed overturning the policy, and according to her Twitter feed, today she is taking action. At approximately 10:45 a.m. Eastern, Gillibrand tweeted, "I look forward to meeting with Dept of Defense officials today to discuss the latest with DADT policy."
The Senate is still searching for a sponsor of legislation that would repeal DADT -- it will most likely not be Gillibrand since she doesn't serve on the Armed Forces Committee. The White House has been discussing strategies for repeal with Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut.
