Massachusetts attorney general Martha Coakley, the front-runner for the U.S. senate seat that was held by the late Ted Kennedy, debuted her first television ad in anticipation of the Democratic primary on December 8.
The 30-second spot aimed toward women focuses on health care, as told through the eyes of Jane Gilman, a constituent whom Coakley helped after her claims were denied by her insurance company.
Coakley, a strong LGBT advocate, faces two primary opponents, Michael Capuano and Stephen Pagliuca. The winner will likely face state senator Scott Brown, the Republican front-runner, in the statewide election on January 19.
