American Idol winner Kris Allen says that his chief competitor and rising pop star Adam Lambert is "doing good" after his recent breakup with boyfriend Drake LaBry.
Allen, who topped runner-up Lambert to become this year’s American Idol champ, spoke with E! online.
"He's doing good," said Allen at the People's Choice Awards nominations announcement. "He's obviously not completely happy about it, but I think it was just something that needed to happen."
Allen also said that he and Lambert remain close and noncompetitive, according to E! online. “We see each other every once in a while and we text all the time," he said.
Allen is due to release his self-titled album on November 17, just six days before Lambert drops his debut, For Your Entertainment.
