Despite reaching platinum status with her album The Fame and releasing several chart toppers, Lady Gaga will not be in the running in the Grammy Awards' Best New Artist category.
While 2009 was definitely the year of Gaga, the pop artist was up for a Grammy in the dance recording category in the last awards cycle with her number 1 hit on the Billboard chart, "Just Dance." That makes her ineligible for the new artist award this year, according to Variety.
Nominations will be announced in December for the January 31 awards show.
