Tom Ford’s A Single Man premiered in New York Sunday, bringing out stars of the fashion, music and film industries — but one pop icon missed the opening credits.
According to Ford, the film was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., and guests were expected to be seated by 7:45 p.m. While Madonna had not yet arrived, Ford had no intention of stalling for the Material Girl.
"She came in after the movie had started. She's a friend of mine and I wasn't going to hold the film for Madonna. We were not waiting for Madonna," said Ford to USA Today.
While Ford was on time to the premiere, the director and the film’s actors, Julianne Moore, Colin Firth, and Nicholas Hoult, left the festivities early to attend a private party for Hoult’s 20th birthday.
Meanwhile, the "Vogue" singer attended the less intimate after party with Vogue’s editor in chief, Anna Wintour, R.E.M. front man Michael Stripe, Courtney Love, Kevin Bacon, and Top Chef’s Padma Lakshimi.
