Broadway star Idina Menzel (pictured, right) is in negotiations for a recurring role on Fox's musical hit Glee, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Menzel could appear in all of the nine remaining episodes of the season when the show returns in April.
While rumors circulated that Menzel would play the mother of Rachel, portrayed by Lea Michele (pictured, left), the Broadway vet is in talks to play the coach of a rival glee club.
Best known for her roles in Rent and Wicked, Menzel recently had her first child with husband Taye Diggs.
"I know that she would love [to guest star on Glee]," Diggs told the website Fancast recently.
Production on the final nine episodes of the hit show's first season began earlier this week. The fall finale airs tonight, and Glee will return April 13.
