The U.S. Senate Health Committee Thursday approved the nomination of Chai Feldblum for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, sending the appointment to the full Senate for confirmation. Feldblum, a lesbian, has drawn criticism from conservatives for her outspoken
support for gay rights.
Fox News outlined some of the fire drawn by Feldblum despite her explanations of her views during a recent hearing.
"She's been an aggressive advocate for some of the most radical views that have ever been expressed," said Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, according to Fox News.
Feldblum worked as a pro bono attorney for Catholic Charities, the social services arm of the church that recently said it would stop providing services rather than comply with same-sex relationship recognition laws in Washington, D.C.
