Megachurch pastor Joel Osteen, who ignited a firestorm in November with his comment to The View that gay people were not among “God’s best,” thanked the heavens on Monday for Annise Parker, the newly inaugurated lesbian mayor of Houston.
According to a tweet from the Victory Fund, during the inauguration ceremony Monday morning, Osteen thanked God for "lifting up our new mayor, Annise Parker."
Parker won a runoff election in December to become the mayor of the fourth-largest city in the United States. Osteen leads the Lakewood Church, the country's largest congregation, in Houston.
