Opponents of marriage equality have lost their last-minute effort to block a judge's decision to allow cameras in the courtroom at a federal trial determining the constitutionality of California’s Proposition 8, the Associated Press reports. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals late Friday turned down their request.
The trial is set to begin Monday in San Francisco. Earlier this week, a judge decided to allow cameras in the courtroom and allow video of the court proceedings to be broadcast on YouTube the following day.
But marriage opponents said the cameras could hurt their case by causing any witnesses who fear public reprisal to alter their testimony.
