A detailed account of an Atlanta football player meeting, romancing, and then ditching a male partner was recently posted online and now has the blogosphere buzzing on which baller the mystery player could be.
Ms.Jia.com, an entertainment website geared to African-American women, carried the firsthand account of a man discussing meeting a college football player who was ostensibly straight. Their relationship turned sexual and eventually monogamous. That was until, according to the anonymous source, the player was signed to a $20 million NFL contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Soon after, the partner was handed a sum of money to leave the football player's life, which he did not take.
The story was picked up on the sports blog Deadspin, which identified the player as 29-year-old Falcons fullback Ovie Mughelli. Deadspin reports that representatives for the single Mughelli as well as representatives from the Falcons referred them to Mughelli's attorneys — which may be a sign a libel suit is in the works.
