Gay residents in Florida are bracing for a court ruling on the state’s gay adoption ban that is expected to arrive on a Wednesday in the near future.
The U.S. court of appeals for the third circuit in Miami will rule on whether the gay adoption ban is constitutional. The case involves Martin Gill, a flight attendant who wants to adopt the two foster children he and his partner have been raising for the past five years.
According to theOrlando Sentinel, the court releases its rulings on Wednesdays between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. on its website.
Florida is the only state with an outright gay adoption ban, which the Florida legislature passed in 1977. Same-sex couples are allowed to be foster parents.
The case is predicted to reach the Florida supreme court no matter how the appeals court rules.
