Capleton, a Jamaican reggae singer whose lyrics advocate killing gay people, is scheduled to headline major reggae festivals in California this month.
The singer, who goes by other names including The Prophet, has been criticized for songs such as “Bun Out Di Chi Chi” that advocate murderous violence against gay people. In 2004 his concerts in California were canceled for this reason.
According to gay activist Michael Petrelis, who received the heads-up from international human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, Capleton is scheduled to perform in San Diego on February 15, Oakland on February 20, and Long Beach on February 21.
