Johnny Weir appeared on Tuesday night’s episode of The Joy Behar Show to talk about those controversial comments made by two French-Canadian broadcasters suggesting Weir was bad for the sport and should be forced to take “a gender test.”
Similarly to his response last week at a press conference addressing the issue, Weir said he wasn’t bothered that the men made the comments, but he wishes they’d give their words a little more thought.
“There are so many kids like me, coming after me, whose parents might repress them just because they saw what they said about me, that their kids are going to turn out to be like me,” Weir tells Behar. “And I think 'me' is pretty fabulous.”
“You are fabulous,” she says.
When Behar asks Weir how he feels about comments suggesting he’s too gay for figure skating, Weir says simply, “It’s figure skating ... They never talk about somebody being too butch for figure skating.”
