A report issued to Congress on Thursday by the State Department outlines human rights abuses around the world, including those that infringe on LGBT rights.
The report on 149 countries, including the United States, points out Uganda, which is considering a bill that would imprison people for aiding or abetting gays. It also mentions the rampant assaults against LGBT people in Jamaica for their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Mark Bromley, chair of the Council for Global Equality, said the report is "remarkably detailed and truly commendable, and unfortunately this new level of detail shows just how dangerous it is for LGBT individuals to go about their daily lives as ordinary citizens in so many parts of the world."
The full report can be viewed, by country, at State.gov.
