A protest and counterprotest at the College of Charleston in South Carolina involving gays and Jewish people ended peacefully on Tuesday.
Students poured out to counterprotest followers of the Topeka, Kan.–based Westboro Baptist Church, which is virulently antigay and anti-Semitic.
"I know that they're enjoying this right now, but we're enjoying it a lot more," said Joe Quinn, a student who helped organize the counterprotest, according to WCBD News in Charleston. "That's what makes me happy."
