Two thirds of white people who "strongly approve" of the Tea Party movement say they agree that the military's ban on openly gay and lesbian service members should be repealed.
In a University of Washington poll obtained by FiveThirtyEight.com, nearly all — 94% — of respondents who "strongly disapprove" of the Tea Party movement agreed that the ban should be lifted.
The Tea Party members and supporters, however, were not as supportive of other gay rights causes. Thirty-eight percent said there should be laws to protect gays from discrimination, 36% said gays should be allowed to adopt, and 17% said gay couples should be allowed to marry.
