David Campbell, a Labor parliament member from New South Wales in Australia, resigned from his duties as transport minister after he was caught using his ministerial car to visit a gay sex club Tuesday.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Channel Seven obtained and broadcast footage of Campbell leaving Ken’s, a club in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
“The club bills itself as a venue for men who prefer men and offers a sauna, steam room and lounge,” reported ABC. “Mr Campbell allegedly drove himself there in his ministerial car on Tuesday night.”
Campbell issued a statement that said he was quitting for personal reasons. He apologized to people including his wife and children in the statement. He said he would continue to represent Keira in parliament despite the loss of his ministerial duties.
New South Wales premier Kristina Keneally asked the community to show understanding towards Campbell as he sorted out the issue, reported ABC.
