Gay activists in Savannah, Ga. plan to rally this Sunday for Kieran Daly, the gay man attacked by two Marines who claimed he harassed them with a wink.
According to Project Q Atlanta, Kevin Clark, director of the Savannah chapter of Georgia Equality, and others are planning the rally for 2 P.M. on Sunday in Johnson Square, near where Joseph Cronauer and Christopher Charles Stanzel beat Daly, 26, who was hospitalized with seizures and bruising to the brain early Saturday.
Clark also issued an open letter Tuesday that calls for elected officials to hold the attackers accountable, according to Project Q Atlanta. The Marines were taken into military custody, and the FBI reportedly is investigating the attack. Georgia has no state-level hate crime protections for LGBT people.
