According to a report from Stars and Stripes, just 10% of the 400,000 Pentagon surveys sent to troops asking them about the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” have been returned.
Pentagon officials are pressuring troops to return the surveys by August 15, the deadline for collecting the rest of the research. The survey features more than 100 questions on perceptions of troops’ morale and behavior before and after a repeal of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” law.
Gay groups including the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network originally warned gay troops against filling out the survey. A similar survey will be sent out to 150,000 military family members next month.
