Daniel Radcliffe made headlines when he struck up a friendship with trans musician Our Lady J. Now the two of them talk about gay rights, Radcliffe’s charity of choice the Trevor Project, and why it’s hard to be Harry Potter in the new issue of Out.
“My family and I have always thought it was best to focus our efforts rather than kind of spreading ourselves too thin across a lot of different organizations — just really picking things that you care about and really, really believe in, and Trevor absolutely was one of them,” Radcliffe says of his support for the LGBT suicide prevention organization. “And when I got to have a tour of the New York call center, my admiration for the projects, but also for the place and the people, tripled.”
The two also talk about advancements in trans rights, Radcliffe’s return to Broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and the big question on everyone’s mind: if the young actor is dating anyone.
