U.S. senator Saxby Chambliss called blogger Joe Jervis to apologize for one of his staff members writing a homophobic slur on his site last Tuesday.
Jervis wrote on his blog Thursday that the Republican from Georgia said it didn't matter what Jervis's political ideology is, but that the comment left on Joe My God in response to a post on the blocked vote on the defense authorization bill, which included language to repeal "don't ask, don't tell," was not acceptable.
His office subsequently sent out a press release announcing that the staff member who left the comment was fired after an investigation by the Senate sergeant at arms.
