Assemblyman Lunges at Shirley Phelps

New York state assemblyman Dov Hikind charged through
a barrier surrounding Westboro Baptist Church's Shirley Phelps-Roper
during a Monday protest in Brooklyn and shouted, "You're a whore!"

"It was an emotional moment," Hikind said after the altercation, according to the New York Daily News. "I just wanted to take that sign from her. They're a despicable group."

Police restrained Hikind but did not arrest him. Phelps reportedly declined to press charges against the assemblyman.
