Police have released the identity of a suspect in the murder of a gay couple in Wilton Manors, Fla. The suspect is Peter Serge Avsenew (pictured), 26, of Hollywood, Fla., and he is being held at Polk County jail without bond. Charges are pending, according to the South Florida Gay News.
The bodies of Kevin Mark Powell, 47, and Steve Adams, 52, were discovered by authorities when Adams's sister called police after he did not appear at a family holiday gathering.
This killing adds to the shocking number of gay murders in South Florida in 2010. The South Florida Gay News has reported on the September murder of Del Brocco in Fort Lauderdale, the May shooting death of Calvin Williams in Palm Beach, and the Oakland Park murders of Alfred Chadwick McMurray and Kevin Walden.
