Fighting Hatred at Hockey Games

Two lesbian hockey fans helped bring an end to the rampant use of antigay slurs during games of Pennsylvania's minor league Hershey Bears team.
Abigail Habbert and her partner complained to Bears management about the use of slurs by fans who were mocking Bears' opponents. Security was beefed up, but the women didn't notice any changes — that's when they sought assistance from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
Last week "the head of stadium security for the Bears announced that
fans responsible for the antigay comments had been identified, and that
the team intended to publish a warning clearly announcing the stadium’s
zero-tolerance policy for discriminatory behavior before and during all
sporting events," reports the San Diego LGBT Weekly.
