Former Porn Star Convicted of Attempted Murder

A jury in Sacramento found former gay-porn star Ryan Idol (a.k.a. Marc Anthony Donais) guilty of attempted murder Tuesday.

Donais, 45, who was a Playgirl centerfold and the star of such 1990s porn films as Idol Worship, Idol Thoughts, and Idol in the Sky, was convicted of attempted murder for beating a former girlfriend over the head with a porcelain toilet tank lid in 2009.

According to The Sacramento Bee, the victim testified that she ended her relationship with Donais after catching him having sex with another man. A few days later, Donais showed up at her residence, saying, “I came over here to kill you.”

“He just grabbed me like I was nothing, and he picked me up and he threw me into the bathroom,” she testified at his preliminary hearing. “He came in and he started beating me with his fists. ... When he took the lid off the toilet ... I thought, ‘Oh, my God, I’m not going to live.’ And I looked down because I didn’t want him to smash it on my face, and he smashed it on my head.”

While Donais said he acted in self-defense, Deputy District Attorney Kevin Jones said the attack was the result of a jealous rage.

“I think the jury was able to recognize that his narcissism and ego basically led him to where he was,” Jones said.

Donais, who faces a maximum of 15 years in prison, is scheduled to be sentenced December 9.
