Flamboyant critics Blaine Edwards and Antoine Merriweather may be headed back to a small screen near you as the sketch comedy series In Living Color will be revived by Fox.
An update of the hit series will air as two half-hour specials in the spring of 2012, that will again be co-executive produced by Keenen Ivory Wayans. The original series aired on Fox from 1990-94 and launched careers of many top performers, including Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Rosie Perez, and Jennifer Lopez.
Among the show's most popular sketches was the recurring "Men on" segments, which had colorful art pundits Blaine Edwards (Damon Wayans) and Antoine Merriweather (David Alan Grier) offer commentary filled with crude puns on books, films, and television. The two were audience favorites, but also drew criticism for what some viewed as perpetuating negative stereotypes of gay men.
