Gay 34-Year-Old Elected Minority Leader of Colo. House

Democratic lawmakers in Colorado's house elected Mark Ferrandino as their leader.
The partnered 34-year-old could now become the house speaker if Democrats regain control in 2012. Ferrandino, a New York State native, was first elected to the Colorado house in 2007, representing portions of Denver. Read more about the politician here. Colorado voters elected Jared Polis--also openly gay and under 40--to the House of Representatives in 2008.
