A 14-year-old Maryland girl has made a plea for senate officials to vote against marriage equality.
Sarah, a home-schooled girl from Bowie, Maryland, decided to use her birthday as a platform to speak out against same-sex marriage. In a video released Tuesday, the teenager — whose face is not shown — is heard saying that it “would be the best birthday present ever if you would vote no on gay marriage.”
Reading from a prepared statement, the girl says that “people have the choice to be gay, but I don’t want to be affected by their choice.”
She also expresses her sympathy for children of gay parents, saying she doesn’t want them to “to get confused about what’s right and OK.”
