Music legend Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48.
People.com reports that the Grammy winner was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. Saturday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
"We received a call at 3:43 p.m. from hotel security and Beverly Hills Fire and police responded minutes later," the story quotes Beverly Hills Police Lieutenant Mark Rosen as saying. "It's unclear who notified hotel staff because she has quite an entourage here at the hotel. We attempted to resuscitate her, to no avail."
The cause of death is unknown at this time. As for signs of drug use or foul play, Rosen said, "We don't know yet, her death is under investigation."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer was due to appear at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party Saturday night. The article quotes someone close to Davis as saying, "This is a sad day and it will be a sad Grammys weekend."
Sources say Jennifer Hudson will perform a tribute to the singer at tomorrow night's awards show.
The following video is reportedly from Houston's final performance on February 9.
