Police in Atlanta have arrested a suspect in the videotaped assault of Brandon White and have reportedly identified two others they say took part in the beating.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Christopher Cain was arrested without incident early Saturday morning and charged with aggravated assault and robbery.
White was ambushed by alleged gang members as he left an Atlanta corner grocery store. The attack, which was posted on Worldstar Hip Hop, included the assailants shouting "no faggots in Jack City" during the brutal assault. The online posting led to the FBI’s involvement in the case and the investigation by federal authorities to determine whether the suspects will be charged with a federal hate crime.
On the day of Cain’s arrest, a rally was held to show support for White and denounce violence and hatred.
“This is not a one-day campaign,” said City Council member Cleta Winslow. “This is not a one-week campaign. This is a lifetime campaign.”
