Undie Run for Your Rights

Undie Run for Your Rights

1runsunglasses

Utahans tired of the state's conservative ways stripped down to their underwear and ran through the streets of Salt Lake City on Saturday.

It wasn't an exclusively gay rights rally, by any means. But of the estimated 3,000 participants, many told local media they were there to support gay rights. Most didn't have to say anything at all, with "Gay Rights" written in paint on an arm, or "Judge Not Les Ye Be Judged" written across a back. One woman told a local Fox station that, for her, the run was all about equal rights.

The event was, not surprisingly, a big hit on social media. Participants flocked to a Facebook page for the "Utah Undie Run," shared pictures and generally agreed it was "awesome." A few of those photos and videos follow here. -- Lucas Grindley

The sight of thousands of people running toward you in their underwear through the streets of Salt Lake City.

The Pac Men were a crowd favorite.

Participants were asked to write political messages on their bodies. Most targeted Utah's conservative bent. Some spoke out for gay rights.

The end of the run left a crowd on the steps of the state Capitol building.

An after-party lasted into the night under the skyline of Salt Lake City.
