Another gay bashing in London's Clapham Common

London metropolitan police are appealing for information and vigilance following a violent homophobic assault on a 40-year-old man in the city's Clapham Common. Detectives say they are investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, near the wooded area of the common.

The attack follows the killing of Jody Dobrowski on the common last year, although police have not said whether the two are linked, as well as assaults on two gay men nearby earlier this month.

Police say the latest victim had been talking to the suspect prior to the assault and during the conversation suggested he was gay. The suspect reportedly became extremely agitated and then physically assaulted the victim, who suffered severe facial injuries and a broken right leg and was knocked unconscious. A witness called police and ambulance service to the scene.

According to police, the suspect in the case had earlier behaved in an aggressive manner toward a 29-year-old man in the same area. Police have conducted forensic tests on the area but are urging more witnesses to come forward with information that could lead to the attacker’s arrest. (Sirius OutQ News)
