Wolfe Releasing acquires seven new films

Wolfe Releasing has announced the acquisition of the festival, broadcast, and home video rights of seven new feature films, many of which screened at the major summer LGBT film festivals. The following titles were acquired:

Loving Annabelle: This first feature film from reality television director Katharine Brooks (The Osbournes) is a lesbian romantic drama about the taboo, secret relationship between a teacher and a student at a Catholic boarding school. Wolfe previously released Brooks’s short film Dear Emily on the shorts compilation DVD titled Watching You. Loving Annabelle won two top awards at Outfest: Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature and Best Actress (Diane Gaidry).

Outing Riley: Written and directed by Pete Jones, winner of the inaugural edition of Project Greenlight and director of Stolen Summer, this film is a heartwarming comedy about the youngest brother in an Irish Catholic family struggling to come out of the closet. Jones stars as the closeted Bobby; also featured are Michael McDonald (MadTV), and Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Follow My Voice: With the Music of Hedwig: In this film indie rock icons John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask team up to  record a cover album of songs from Hedwig and the Angry Inch to benefit New York City’s Hetrick-Martin queer youth center. Directed by Katherine Linton, the film features performances and appearances by the Breeders, Rufus Wainwright, Ben Folds, Ben Lee, Sleater-Kinney, Yoko Ono, Yo La Tengo, and more.

Sun Kissed: This new Patrick McGuinn feature is a gay romance about two young strangers who fall in love in a lonesome desert, but the mysterious past and dangerous visions of one of the men might lead to the demise of the other.

Mom: Erin Greenwell’s odd-couple romantic comedy is about a straitlaced reporter with big dreams and her butch camerawoman who get stranded in the small town of Little Hope, where nothing seems to go right.

Opencam: This sexy new thriller is set in Washington, D.C., and is about a killer seeking new victims via gay Internet chat rooms. When all the signs point toward Manny, a young, single artist, a closeted cop moves in to find out more.

Fabulous! The Story of Queer Cinema: Delivering on the title's promise, this documentary produced for the Independent Film Channel features interviews with Ang Lee, John Waters, Todd Haynes, Christine Vachon, John Cameron Mitchell, and Jennie Livingston, among others, and lots of terrific, nostalgic clips.
