Katy Perry Kissed a Girl, and the Church Doesn't Like It

Katy Perry’s hit song “I Kissed a Girl” inspired a spin-off that played on a sign outside a Christian church in Blacklick, Ohio. Havens Corners Church ran its own version of Perry’s lyric by adding an evangelical twist: "I kissed a girl and I liked it, then I went to hell."

"It's not something that is really a shock if you're a scriptural person," the Reverend Dave Allison, pastor of the 100-member church, told The Columbus Dispatch. "We meant that as a loving warning to teens. The Scriptures tell us that you should not do what the song tells you to do.”

Perry, who released a Christian pop album in 2001, has achieved international success with her song about kissing another female. The church's message, however, was lost on most Blacklick residents.

Observers either were not familiar with the song and didn't understand the cultural reference or didn't understand the message, according to the Dispatch. So Allison removed the sign on Thursday, saying that it was not due to any pressure.

"It was obvious: 'If you're gay, you're going to hell,'" said Wendy Olinski of Reynoldsburg, a neighboring town. "At first, I have to say, I laughed hysterically because I was shocked. But that's going way too far. It's just rude." (The Advocate)

This Church in Ohio must be a Pentecostal Church, the extemists of Christian Churches. I read recently that Palin although christened in the RC Church has spent her life in and out of Pentecostal Churches, whether it is in the title of the Church's name or not. This explained why she thinks that children who are attacked and raped and become pregnant shouldn't be aborted if they don't have a physical problem that would prevent delivering this misbegotten event. Even incest is o. k. with her to put a woman through, age shouldn't matter. This is so cruel, and how any woman who knows the score with five of her own children, could think that pleases God has a very misbegotten belief system IMO.
