Obama Says "Thanks, But No Thanks" to Lindsay Lohan

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has said “Thanks, but no thanks” to Linsday Lohan's offer to help with his campaign, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Lohan, who has become increasingly vocal in her opinions recently, particularly in slamming John McCain’s selection of Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, offered to host a series of events appealing to young voters.

An unnamed "top" source in the Obama campaign told the Sun-Times that the actress, who has been to rehab three times and is a tabloid fixture with her rumored girlfriend, Samantha Ronson, is "not exactly the kind of high-profile star who would be a positive for us.''

Lohan, who has referred to Sarah Palin as a “narrow-minded, media-obsessed homophobe,” publicly supports Senator Obama and offered to help raise awareness and support among young voters.

With the continued mudslinging between the Democratic and Republican campaigns, the McCain camp wasted no time in responding to the reports.

"So let me get this straight -- they turned away Lindsay Lohan, but Barack Obama has friends like unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers and convicted felon Tony Rezko?” McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said, according to TMZ.com. “Maybe LiLo is just too upstanding for Barack Obama."

The International Business Times is reporting that Lohan’s publicist is sure Lohan knows nothing about the alleged rejection.

"This is news to me as she has been invited to attend his events and I wouldn't think that his camp would want to alienate anyone who could offer support," Lohan's publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, said via e-mail to the International Business Times. (Kandice Day, The Advocate)

Oh, Peter Samson, why are you criticizing the "Republiturds"? Per the article, it was the OBAMA campaign which doesn't want Lindsay. The McCain spokesman was noting the Obama camp's apparent double standard (okay to hang out with Tony Rezko and Bill Ayers, but not Lindsay). I wish the Obamadroids would use their brains and ask themselves why they REALLY support this empty suit. If you really want a candidate who was ALWAYS opposed to the Iraq war, and actually took PUBLIC heat for it, vote for McKinney. Unlike Obama, her stance was covered from the outset. (That famous little speech that Obama touts was done months after the real speech. It was just a dog-and-pony show.)

Terre, how EXACTLY will Obama's getting elected help anyone BUT Obama? The man (for lack of a better term) doesn't stand FOR anything if it doesn't help HIM in some fashion. Look at how he voted for the Dubya compromise on FISA. "Gee, Mr President, I hate everything you stand for but I'll be glad to let the telecom industry off the hook for giving you any information you wanted on people who may not have done anything wrong." THAT was what your "man" did. Please, tell me what Obama has actually done FOR the LGBT community except have a "D" beside his name. He hasn't done ANYTHING. HE invited the anti-gay "ex-gay" Donnie McClurkin for last year's little "tour". HE has long ties to the virulent anti-gay James Meeks. But don't let either of those little "inconvenient truths" get in the way. Oh, he also OPPOSES same-sex marriage. He SAYS he's supportive of civil unions, but as with so many other issues, what he says one day doesn't necessarily match what he does the next.

Uh, wasn't Betty Ford in rehab? Gee Republiturds - maybe you should pull your heads out of your hypocritical asses and look around from time to time. Maybe you'd look less foolish.

[...does anyone know why the Gay Men's Chorus was cancelled the night of the Obama fundraiser?] Obama is trying to win this election. I agree that Lohan is bright and right, and I personally appreciate her activism. She doesn't have to stop just because Obama's campaign can't use her in an official capacity. Reckless behavior has its consequences, one of which is reputation. Look what the vast, right-wing liars club did with nothing but an enthusiastic offer to help from Lohan on her blog. She's doing great right where she is. Getting Obama elected will move us forward by leaps and bounds. Losing it to McSame and Bonestacker will put us back, which won't matter much because they will literally ruin our country through their utter lack of intelligence in economics and environmental matters.

I just started reading Lindsey Lohan's articles on the web. I found them to be very interesting and I found she is a very bright woman. So, she has been in rehab a few times, she sure is not alone. She is trying to pick up the pieces and doing a good job at it. I doubt Obama would reject her help but then again does anyone know why the Gay Men's Chorus was cancelled the night of the Obama fundraiser?
