Ohio Couple's SUV Set Ablaze Following Earlier Attack

A Columbus, Ohio, couple whose SUV was set ablaze on Tuesday has subsequently revealed that they were attacked last September. John and Larry Charlton say they were attacked while walking down the street by a group of men who first yelled a gay slur at them, WBNS TV reports. They didn't come forward at the time, but after the incident with their car, police urged them to go public.

"Why in the world did these people jump us?" Larry Charlton told WBNS. "How can they be that hateful to two people just walking down the street?"

The Charltons have been a couple for more than seven years. (Advocate.com)

    GO, SHIRLEY!!!! You go, girl!!!! The victory of Prop. 8., in California, has made it open season on LGBT people. As California is reputed to be the most liberal state among the 50; allowing ignorance and intolerance to be codified into the state constitution has emboldened every right-wingnut from coast to coast. Once more we are the victims of open hatred. We must all fight back, with every tool at our disposal. Shirley hit the nail on the head! My hat is off to her and her partner.

    " How can they attack you for for just walking down the street" you ask...Because they can!! Because we've had a President who wanted to constitutionally discriminate against you , your friend and all us gay people.!! All over the world...we are the only group besides woman that it's OK to beat up,abuse,insult and treat like crap. We have to stand up for ourselves and fight back. My friend put 8 years in the Marines and I put in 6. We are women, we are Gay, and we are 70 and 72 year old seniors. Oh and we are white...Talk about being discriminated against !! But I will not be put up with what you Two have tolarated. I will kick there cowardly, Ignorant, uneducated butts or die trying. Sue them,Fill charges, Get ahold of the ACLU and every group you can reach for support. Fight back. Make them pay!!!
