O'Reilly Blasts Pro-Gay Colbert, Fires Up Right-Wing Troops
After Stephen Colbert made a video congratulating gays and lesbians on their same-sex marriage victory and poking a bit of fun at conservative Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Antonin Scalia, Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly went in for the kill.
On The O'Reilly Factor, the host insinuated that marriage equality would threaten the "religious liberty" of anyone who believes "marriage is a sacrament instituted by his religion." He also mentioned Fox News contributor Father Jonathan Morris being spit on during New York Pride (an incident about which Morris was, by the way, forgiving and gracious).
After showing Colbert's video, which quoted parts of Scalia's scathing dissent, O'Reilly warned Colbert -- whose new CBS talk show premieres in September -- that he's "alienating traditional Americans, [which] would be very bad for business." Sounds like a threat.
