A gay poet has recorded a swoon-inducing poem about love in the digital age.

Steven James Boyle read a spoken-word valentine titled “I Hit Send, or Modern Meltdown” at Penn State University, encompassing the fears and anxieties of trying to communicate love to another man who may or may not be gay.

In the interactive piece, recorded and posted on YouTube with the text included as subtitles, Boyle points to his audience at the end of select couplets, asking them to guess what completes the rhyme. For example:

“With product & passion & some painstaking plucking, I convince myself that I’m someone worth…”
