Showtime Networks announced Wednesday that the groundbreaking American series Queer as Folk, based on the acclaimed U.K. show on Channel 4, has been renewed for an additional 20 episodes. Showtime president of programming Jerry Offsay said, Queer as Folk has been a tremendous success for our network, both in terms of critical acclaim and support from our subscribers. It clearly has people talking and has generated quite a buzz in both gay and mainstream outlets. The series deals with the relationships, careers, loves, and ambitions of a group of young gay men and lesbians living in Pittsburgh.
