The BBC reports that the estate of openly gay artist Francis Bacon has launched a multimillion-dollar legal action against Marlborough Fine Art. The estate alleges that Marlborough Fine Art, which Bacon used exclusively from 1958 until his death in 1992, kept up to 70% of the value of Bacon’s paintings when one third of the value would have been more appropriate. The gallery is calling the allegations “unfounded.”
