Variety reports that The Deep End will be one of four U.S. films to be showcased during the Directors Fortnight at this years Cannes Film Festival. The Fortnight is a sidebar to the festival and functions as a place where its possible to take the risks that the main festival cant, according to Fortnight director Marie-Pierre Macia. The Deep End stars Tilda Swinton (Orlando, Edward II) as a Nevada mother who stumbles across the murdered body of her sons gay lover and goes to extraordinary lengths to protect her child from suspicion. Jonathan Tucker plays the part of the son.
